I sincerely Thank you for selecting me as a recipient for financial assistance in my greatest time of need. As you know, following two seizures taking place at the end of my shift on January 31st, and a subsequent ER stay, I have been formally diagnosed with tonic clonic seizure disorder, or Epilepsy. This news was difficult to accept, as was the extensive testing involved, my recovery process, and how it will now forever change my life. My history with Torchy’s is actually quite long to begin with: it was one of my first jobs ever (a cashier at 19 yrs old) and supported me while I attended school and completed my BFA at the University of Texas at Austin. I returned post-Covid for a short time before moving to the Mckinney area, where I now work behind the bar, once again coming back for the culture, support, and promotion of creative and passionate individuals. My closest friends, and spouse of over a decade also have a long history with the company, so my biggest concern following this medical emergency was how it would affect those relationships, and my quality of life moving forward. Receiving assistance absolved an unbelievable amount of stress for myself and my family, because it meant I could return to a job that I love without missing a beat, without fear of missed wages, and with a full recovery and necessary medications on my side. Due to your decision, I have not gone without care, I now have a formal neurologist, really neat images of my brain, and am able to have the freedom to return to work in a separate but equally important way, as an artist & painter. I am so much looking forward to healing, and continually sharing my gratitude with you all, with my regulars I’ve missed greatly and with my amazing coworkers who were there to immediately help during such a critical moment.
